The Matrix is coming back for a fifth movie

The last 'Matrix' movie was essentially a warning against corporations sucking the life out of iconic pieces of destructive intellectual property But Warner Bros. Discovery is already back on track.

Deadline reports that Martian writer Drew Goddard has been hired to direct and direct another Matrix movie produced by Lana Wachowski. The new film currently has no title or release date set, and will feature returning stars from the series, including Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Laurence Fishburne, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Jessica Henwick. There is no announcement as to whether or not.

Warner Bros. said in a statement: Jesse Urman, head of production at Motion Pictures, said Goddard will "honor what Lana and Lily (Wachowski) started more than 25 years ago and offer a unique perspective" on the future of the series. He said that he came to the studio with new ideas. "It's no exaggeration to say that The Matrix movies changed cinema and my life," Goddard said. "Lana and Lily's amazing art inspires me every day, and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to tell the story of their world."
